Nebraska Natural Legacy Project

Congress created the State Wildlife Grants program to help conserve rare and declining species and their habitats and promote proactive conservation to avert future declines of more common species. States wishing to participate must have a comprehensive wildlife conservation plan to address these issues. The Nebraska Natural Legacy Project provides a "seat at the table" for all interests to join forces to conserve Nebraska's wildlife.
The NNLP lays out a vision for conserving Nebraska's biological diversity. It was a collaborative effort that included input from hundreds of conservation practitioners, ranchers, farmers, and the public. It identifies 40 biologically unique landscapes across the state, including the Niobrara Valley, where conservation work is prioritized.
These projects create and strengthen partnerships. The NNLP is a project for all Nebraskans. Conservation is too big a task for one entity to do it alone. NNLP brings together dozens of organizations representing all facets of the conservation and agricultural communities to develop a shared vision for the future of the wildlife resources Nebraskans cherish so deeply.
